3 Malaysian bars enter Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022 51-100 List—here are the winners

Ahead of the annual announcement of Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022, the second edition of the 51-100 List has been revealed. Just as three Malaysian restaurants have earned a spot on the extended list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants last month, the same number of Malaysian establishments have made the cut for the bar edition.

The three local bars include KL’s Three X Co and Coley, as well as Penang’s Backdoor Bodega. Three X Co, which previously ranked No. 47 in the 2021 Asia’s 50 Best Bars list, secured a spot at No. 70 this year. Meanwhile, first-time entry Backdoor Bodega takes the No. 97 spot. Coley, which was crowned the Best Bar in Malaysia in 2019, rounded off the list at No. 100.

This year marks the second edition of the extended list, consisting of bars from 24 different cities across the continent and features 10 bars from 2021’s top 50, including 2019’s Asia’s Best Bar (The Old Man, Hong Kong) and Tokyo’s legendary Bar High Five. Nepal made its debut on the list for the very first time with Kathmandu’s Blackbird taking the No. 96 spot.

Mark Sansom, Director of Content for Asia’s 50 Best Bars, says: “In 2021, we decided to extend the Asia’s 50 Best Bars ranking to include more bars that deserve to be recognised for the remarkable drinking experience they provide their guests.

“As countries open up and gastronomic travel resumes, it gives us great pleasure to recommend double the number of establishments that visitors should seek out and experience.”
