From how to prevent chafing in your festival ‘fits to the essentials you need to stay fresh throughout the day, we’ve thought of it all. Ahead, find five key problems you’re bound to run into this festival season (and our tried-and-tested ways to fix them!):
Problem #1: Greasy skin and melty makeup

The first thing to suffer with the sweat and chaos of a festival crowd is your beauty beat. Fret not, though—there’s an easy workaround to keep you looking tip-top all day long.
Step one is to avoid heavy makeup. The logic is simple—the more you have on your face, the more you’re likely to lose. Instead, stick to lightweight formulas like tinted moisturisers and powder blushes to avoid a cakey mess.
Of course, if you’re partial to an elaborate eye look or you just feel more comfortable with a little extra coverage, we do have a contingency. Firstly, blotting paper and blotting powder are your best friends. Not only will it keep shine at bay, but it will help keep your makeup in place for longer.
However, the most important thing you need is actually a good setting spray—preferably one with SPF in it. Not only will it set your makeup at the start of the day, but it’ll help fix your beat in place throughout while giving you a cooling break with every spritz. Plus, if your setting spray has SPF in it, it’ll help you top up your sun protection easily, keeping your skin shielded from harmful UV rays round-the-clock.
Problem #2: Gross hair

When it comes to outdoor events of any kind, keeping your hair up and away from your face is key. The last thing you want is for your lengths to get sweaty and tangled as you party away. Plus, if you’re camping at your festival, you probably don’t have reliable access to a shower, so a cute and simple updo is your best bet for concealing your greasy roots and keeping your hair tidy.

If, however, you do have to leave your hair down (sometimes, the length really does just complete the outfit), then make sure you’re stocked up on the following essentials:
Problem #3: Wardrobe malfunctions

Let’s be real—if you’re at a festival, you’re probably in a teeny tiny little outfit. Unfortunately, miniskirts and halter tops don’t offer much in the way of coverage, and with all the dancing you’ll be doing, you’re at risk of a slip-up here and there.
To avoid a wardrobe mishap, you may want to keep a little aid on hand. Whether you’re using fashion tape or our personal pick, Clutch Glue, contingencies are a must for any festival season.
Problem #4: Chafed thighs and underarms

Speaking of teeny tiny little outfits—with outdoor events, chafing is inevitable. Fortunately, there’s a very easy fix. Option one is to get yourself a good antiperspirant for your problem areas. In the end, sweat and moisture cause chafing in the first place, so using an antiperspirant will reduce rubbing considerably, saving your skin. If you need a little extra help on top of that, then powder is a must—you can use baby powder or talc, as long as it wicks away moisture.
The second option is to wear a pair of bike shorts under your skirt to minimise friction as much as possible. The added advantage is that you won’t be at risk of flashing anyone in your skirts!
Problem #5: Grubby hands and busy toilets

This should go without saying, but festivals are gross. Porta-potties are just the beginning—with all the mud and sweat you’re bound to encounter on the festival grounds, you need to make sure your basic hygiene is covered. Hand sanitiser and wet wipes are your best friends in this case. Plus, in lieu of a bidet, wet wipes will keep you feeling fresh in the nethers post-potty.
