By now you’re surely familiar with the girls of Blackpink—after all, they’ve released three singles and dropped a whole album just this year. We’ve heard them sing about heartbreak, we’ve swooned over their highly-anticipated collab with Selena Gomez, and we’ve even tried to emulate a few of their best beauty moments.
So, with all the success that has followed them, it comes as no surprise that they are landing some pretty major brand deals. Blackpink’s Lisa, for instance, has had her fair share of impressive collaborations this year. She is Celine’s newest brand ambassador and, most recently, MAC Cosmetics’ latest Global Brand Ambassador.
The big partnership has been met with resounding excitement from the woman of the hour and Blinks alike—and for good reason, too. Lisa is the first female K-pop star to be appointed the role, and as far as we’re concerned, she deserves it.
Ahead, find out what Lisa has to say about her brand new gig and glean some of her best beauty tips.
How does it feel to be the newest brand ambassador for M·A·C Cosmetics?
“I’m a huge fan of M·A·C and have been a loyal user for a long time, so it’s really a dream come true to have the opportunity to serve as an ambassador for the brand.
“M·A·C is truly at the forefront of trendsetting, which reminds me every time I see a M·A·C campaign or the incredible looks their artists create backstage at fashion weeks around the world. It‘s an honor to partner with a brand with such an incredible heritage and unrivaled expertise in makeup artistry. I am thrilled and looking forward to this journey!”

What was your first ever MAC product?
“The first M·A·C product I used was a lip product. I’m still a huge fan of M·A·C’s lip products and love playing around with the countless number of colors and textures to choose from to help perfect my look.”
Lisa is never one to shy away from a red lip—from more bold, defined application techniques to diffused, K-beauty flushes, she’s got it down.
You’re renowned for your super-cool beauty looks. When did you fall in love with makeup?
“Since I was a little girl, I have always been interested in makeup and fashion. But if I had to say the time I officially fell in love with makeup, I would say that was after my debut. When we release a new album or when I’m on set for a magazine, I enjoy suggesting a makeup look that I’ve always wanted to try.”

Where do you get the inspiration for your more colourful makeup looks?
“I constantly review various makeup looks for inspiration. When I’m on a shoot, I like suggesting makeup styles that I have been eager to try. I enjoy working together with the makeup artist to finalise my look through different attempts to eventually suits the mood I am trying to express in the shoot.”
Rhinestone-bedazzled liner, rainbow-cast lids and red-rimmed eyes are just a few of the colourful looks Lisa has sported.
What does beauty mean to you and has it been an empowering tool?
“To me, beauty is confidence. I think beauty comes from one’s confident inner self and one’s attitude. Makeup and styling are the cherries on top of your beautiful inner-self!”
