5 Steps to acing a flawless base this holiday season

If you’re raring to party your weekend night(s) away this holiday season, here’s a tip to ensuring your makeup doesn’t leave your face looking like a greasy mess by the time you get home: secure the base before anything else.

Before you prep yourself with the dewiest of dumplings and the chic-est of celebrity-inspired makeup looks to that Christmas/NYE gathering, don’t forget to layer on some of these skin perfectors for a flawless complexion. This way to letting your skin pop:

Nudestix Tinted Cover Foundation

“I like anything that offers a #gonudebutbetter finish and Nudestix’s Tinted Cover Foundation is right up my alley. First up—brownie points go to the mostly-everything-free ingredient list i.e. cruelty-free, no gluten, parabens and preservatives. Secondly, the formula resembles that of a tinted moisturiser than foundation. It is really lightweight, gives a pretty, dewy sheen to the skin, and blends like a dream. 10/10 would keep this, especially on days where I want a naturally glowing finish without layering on a full-coverage foundation.” – Loh Wei Yeen, Beauty Editor

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer

“I loathe how my dark circles seem to perpetually exist no matter how many layers of concealer I apply but with IT Cosmetics’ Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer, I’m impressed by the tremendously high coverage it offers with only a tiny squeeze of product from the tube (a little really goes a long way here). Best part is that it also has anti-ageing skincare benefits and with the new formula, it comes in an array of 22 shades that you can tailor to your skin’s warm/cool/neutral undertone.” – Joanna Pinto, Special Projects Editor

Burberry Beauty Matte Glow Foundation

“I’m not big on matte foundations—still kinda loving a dewy glow—but Burberry’s latest Matte Glow Foundation is steadily growing on me. It definitely delivers on the matte finish, and is one of those full-coverage foundations that does a good job in evening out skin tone while concealing all flaws. Its heat, humidity and pollution resistant claims fared relatively well (even after six hours), but I’d recommend a layer of loose powder for it to last longer. The foundation comes in a whopping 30 shades and you best believe that you’ll be able to find a suitable shade from this extensive range.” – Loh Wei Yeen, Beauty Editor

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser

“Laura Mercier’s recently-reformulated Tinted Moisturiser is making it easy to love for anyone who hasn’t jumped on their bandwagon (it is one of their iconic products, after all). This skincare-makeup hybrid has a Hydrating Complex that helps boost the skin’s moisture levels for 24 hours of hydration while keeping signs of visibly dry skin at bay. I like how the formula didn’t leave my skin feeling taut and dry after hours, and it does offer a subtle, soft-focus finish. It comes with SPF30 too so I didn’t have to worry about UVA/UVB rays when I’m out and about.” – Loh Wei Yeen, Beauty Editor

Wycon Cover It Concealer

“Got undereye circles dark enough to rival that of a raccoon’s? If you (like me) are currently nodding, try Wycon Cosmetics’ Cover It Concealer to look more alert, less I-need-sleep-stat this holiday season. Its high-coverage formula blends easily and doesn’t crease into the lines, plus the rose-gold packaging is cute enough to cop for your vanity.” – Loh Wei Yeen, Beauty Editor
