Mr. Burberry fuses British elegance with raw masculinity

It’s the fragrance we’ve all been waiting to drop since we caught wind of it last November: Burberry has just released its newest scent for men, Mr. Burberry, inspired by the brand’s iconic trenchcoat and the essence of London. 

 

Created by CEO and creative director Christopher Bailey and perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, Mr. Burberry is a delectable combination of sensual herbal woodiness and classic scents of British perfumery. The fragrance opens with crisp zesty grapefruit and leaves a seductive base of earthy vetiver and smokey guaiac wood. 

The bottle incorporates signature design details in line with the house’s aesthetic—the weighted cap references horn-look button, whereas a hand-tied knot in English-woven black gabardine wraps around the neck. Perfect as a gift to a special someone (or for yourself!), you can physically personalise the Mr. Burberry bottle with up to three initials through a monogramming service available on Burberry.com and selected stores. If you’re absolutely taken with the scent, get your hands on the grooming line which includes an aftershave splash, a face moisturiser and a beard oil.

 

Mr. Burberry’s campaign includes a director’s cut film shot by Oscar and Turner Prize-winning British director Steve McQueen, featuring British actor and musician Josh Whitehouse and British model and actress Amber Anderson. Titled “I Won’t Complain”, the soundtrack was created by British singer-songwriter Benjamin Clementine.


“For the Mr. Burberry film, I wanted to convey the idea of two people who are passionately in love,” says McQueen. “It’s that moment in a relationship where all you are thinking about is each other, and all you want is to be with each other.”
