Vibrant prints and powerful femininity—Erdem is very much known for these design aesthetics. His nostalgic romance and dreamlike narrative will now be imprinted on the Nars Strange Flowers Collection. There’s nothing strange about this collaboration. In fact it’s every bit hauntingly beautiful.
Erdem Moralioglu has long partnered with Nars on and off the runway since 2013 including backstage at London Fashion Week, on the red carpet at Met Gala and in the pages of the designer’s 10th anniversary book, Erdem X. So it was only a matter of time before a Nars makeup collaboration materialise.
What’s interesting about this partnership is the birth of Nars’ first lip powder palette and also mattifying blotting paper. The Erdem for Nars Strange Flowers collection encompasses 14 pieces – including a cushion compact case specially for Asia – with a range of bold and timeless shades for the eyes, lips and cheeks in a custom designed palette. The soft-touch packaging features one of three original floral prints created by Erdem for this collaboration.
“It was really interesting to explore my aesthetic in collaboration with Nars and see how far we could push different elements through colour and product,” says the designer. “It was fascinating to develop new pigments and palettes as well as the cosmetics themselves.”
Erdem for Nars Strange Flowers collection will be available from this May 2018 onwards.
