From radical eye makeup that deserve a double take to next-level hairdos that beget a new Pinterest moodboard, these are our favourite hair and makeup looks that can inspire your bridal beauty look. Disclaimer: these beauty trends aren’t for the faint-hearted.
Get vampy
Despite the “modern vampire” memo, we’re all for the gothic-chic beauty look at Rodarte. The cupid’s bow was outlined to perfection, while lips were filled with a deep aubergine hue that brought out the paleness of the model’s complexion. The topper? Birdcage veils decked over top knots, replete with both fresh and fake blooms for a touch of spring.
Summer-ready perfection
Planning for an outdoor reception or a destination wedding in the springtime? Keep your look fresh, understated and incredibly subtle—like the beauty look backstage at Carolina Herrera. Models sported low, sleek ponytails that hid their ears for a contemporary twist. Skin was given a “post-facial” glow, and some models had coral lip colour for a dash of colour.

We get the wedding makeup memo—classic, flattering, anything that you won’t regret in the next 10 years. But why shy away from colour when you can’t help it—especially when it’s sheer perfection like this look at Ulla Johnson?
The key is to keep everything else in neutral, timeless tones—from your lips to cheeks. If you can’t resist colour, this is an excellent way to wear it i.e. line your waterline with a sprightly hue, and keep your smokey eye in complementing shades to really let your peepers pop.

Models at Alice + Olivia rocked a low ponytail with crystal-dotted hair parts—a testament that you don’t merely need your regular arm/neck bling to stand out on your big day.

Headbands too mainstream for your liking? Flip it upside down and wear it on the back of your head instead. Badgley Mischka shows us how it’s done with models donning embroidered headbands at the bottom of their heads, giving new meaning to ‘business in the front, party at the back’ hairstyles. Since we’re talking about breaking the mould, try your hand at wedding nail art ideas that aren’t your conventional French manicures or milky nails.
