MFW SS16 Day 5: Making a statement

A constant we saw on Day 5 of Milan Fashion Week SS16 was the use of glamorously eye-catching accessories (be it oversized pearl earrings or fruit-encrusted headpieces) paired with subtle makeup that highlighted the best features of the face.

Dolce & Gabbana never fails with the classic Italian beauty look: winged eyeliner, light pink/red lips and tousled chignon was perfectly accessorised with fruity and floral hairpieces and hairscarves. Marni and Missoni saw bold eye looks with equally dramatic earrings—spidery-long eyelash extensions at Marni and finger-painted bright eye colours at Missoni.

While the sleek, no-makeup makeup look is always trendy for spring/summer, Salvatore Ferragamo went a step further by toughening up the femininity of it using ash-gray and gold colours that were squared-out beneath the brows; whereas Richmond’s glittered eye and bright lip combo also made for a celebratory, evening-appropriate look.
