Harith Iskander to make his debut on Netflix this January with ‘I Told You So’

Netflix is entering 2018 with no signs of slowing down. Come 19 January, the popular streaming service will be debuting its first original comedy production from Southeast Asia, and the honour goes to none other than Malaysia’s godfather of stand-up comedy, Harith Iskander.

In the one-hour stand-up comedy special I Told You So, Iskander will showcase his distinct blend of humour as he tackles everything from family drama and awkward dating experiences, to social and cultural issues that are commonly faced by Malayisans and Singaporeans.

“I’m delighted and honoured to be the first comedian from Malaysia to be a part of Netflix’s original production, and bring Asian stand-ups to the global stage,” says Iskander. “We chose to work with Netflix not only because of its vast reach to audiences around the world, but also because of how open they are in embracing our unique flavour of humour that’s so different from the mainstream comedies you normally see on TV.”

Besides Harith Iskander, Netflix will also be debuting Singaporean comedian Fakkah Fuzz and Malaysian stand-up artist Kavin Jay in the coming weeks. Expect back-to-back laughter as the three comedy specials will premiere on Netflix globally on the following dates: Harith Iskander’s I Told You So on 19 January, Fakkah Fuzz’s Almost Banned on 26 January, and Kavin Jay’s Everybody Calm Down! on 2 February.
