Beauty and the Beast

Release date: 16 March 2017

Beauty and the Beast‘s recent TV spot on the Golden Globes put Emma Watson’s pretty voice on centre stage, further showcasing why she makes the perfect Belle, and having us as excited as ever for the re-telling of the much-loved Disney classic on the big screen.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2

Release date: 27 April 2017

Our favourite interstellar gang is back. This time, we’ll follow the Guardians as they travel throughout the cosmos to help Peter Quill learn more about his true parentage. If you thought Groot was a scene-stealer last time around, be prepared to be charmed off your feet by Baby Groot, who is proving to be quite the adorable little troublemaker in the film trailer.

Wonder Woman

Release date: 1 June 2017

However bad Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice may be, it had one redeeming feature: it gave us a glimpse of our favourite DC Comics heroes, or in this case, a kick-ass heroine in Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. In her own standalone feature, we’ll get to see the backstory of this Amazonian princess and how she left her all-female island after learning about the ongoing events of a world war.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Release date: 6 July  2017

In yet another reboot, we’ll see Spider-Man played by Tom Holland, who showed us his boyish charms as the web-slinger in Captain America: Civil War. Here, the young Peter Parker tries to balance being a hero with his high school life, and Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark will make an appearance, playing mentor to Spidey in his battle against the Vulture.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Release date: 5 October 2017

Kingsman: The Secret Service sparked life with its humour and originality in a genre that seemed routine and done-to-death when it came out in 2014 – so we’ve got great expectations for the sequel. With Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Channing Tatum and Elton John onboard, as well as Colin Firth’s return confirmed after the presumed death of his character Harry Hart, it is already looking promising.

Justice League

Release date: 16 November 2017

DC rounds up the superhero flicks for the year with Justice League. Directed by Zack Snyder, it will feature an all-star lineup that includes Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Cyborg. The formidable team are set to face the catastrophic threat of Steppenworlf and his army of Parademons – here’s to hoping it will be heaps better than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Star Wars: Episode VIII

Release date: 14 December 2017

As per Episode VII, the plot for Episode VIII is kept under wraps at the moment, but we do know that most of the cast from The Force Awakens will be back (it was Carrie Fischer‘s final film role before her sad passing last year). It will pick up where the last installment left off, and hopefully shed a little more light into Rey’s much-speculated backstory.

Update: The title of the upcoming film has been revealed to be ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’.
