The new ‘Power Rangers’ film trailer is here

And it looks like it will be quite different from the Rangers series we remember from our childhood. Judging from the trailer, the upcoming Power Rangers reboot seems to be laden with darker, more serious undertones, accompanied by the occasional witty quips. We got a glimpse of Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, but not many action scenes were given away—that is if there is more to the actual film (we are hoping there is).

We first reported of the new Rangers film back in March. In case you missed it, here is the official synopsis: “Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove—and the world—is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it’s too late.”

Will this grittier version of Power Rangers work? We’ll find out when the film hits the cinemas in March 2017.
