4 August (Sat), Dazed by Disco @ fono, The Zhongshan Building

If you haven’t heard, fono is the place to be to escape from the overplayed hits that dominate airwaves. Kicking it off this month are wizards of disco Stuffa (Denmark) and Rupert (UK), who will be displaying their best selections of rare disco grooves, Afro & Brazilian boogie, and sizzling funk breaks.

5 August (Sun), Karen Nunis & The Blue Notes @ No Black Tie

Drawing from old greats like Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughan, Karen Nunis will reel you in with her soulful blues-flavoured jazz. The experienced songstress is back after a long stint abroad, where she has collaborated and performed with many talented musicians extensively over the years.

8, 15, 22 & 29 August (every Wed), Aalex Termizi @ Bobo KL

Prepared to be charmed by Bobo’s artist-in-residence of the month Aalex Termizi, as she serenades you with her quirky, mellow tunes. Inspired by Norah Jones, Zee Avi and Lianne La Havas, Termizi is definitely one to watch for her easygoing brand of indie meets jazz.

9 – 12 August (Thurs – Sun), YKLS’ Aurora: A Tribute to Björk @KLPac

Whether it comes to music genres or show concepts, the Young KL Singers (YKLS) are not afraid to push boundaries. This year, the show choir is set to delight with the music of Björk. Expect the Icelandic singer’s creative and experimental nuances coupled with visual projection designs by the students of Saito University College. One thing’s for sure, this will not be your typical choral production.

11 & 12 August (Sat & Sun), Cyberjaya Multimedia Festival 2018 @ Centrus Mall, Cyberjaya

A celebration of the local creative content and music scene, Cyberjaya Multimedia Festival returns this year with an exciting lineup of music performances, film screenings, creative conferences, tech exhibitions and more. Headlining the festival are some familiar music acts: rock band Bittersweet, R&B singer NJWA, synth pop duo Juno and Hanna and the genre-busting act Jaggfuzzbeats.

17 August (Fri), III: Album launch by Brendan de Cruz @ The Bee, Publika

Join singer-songwriter Brendan de Cruz in an eventful night of music as he launches his third record, III. The show will be hosted by comic Prakash Daniel, with Battle Bloom and Volatile to kick things off before de Cruz takes to the stage. Closing the night will be Nadir and a DJ set by Dranoel Sinclair.

18 & 19 August (Sat & Sun), Yayasan Sime Darby Arts Festival @ KLPac

A free-for-all arts festival with a whopping 350 activities set to take place over the weekend on the grounds of KLPac, safe to say there won’t be a dull moment at this year’s YSDAF. The music acts that will performing for the event include Pastel Lite, Bil Musa, Fazz, Enterprise and the YSDAF 2018 Battle of the Bands winner, Cyanus.

25 August (Sat), Merdeka Baru: Konsert Merdeka Pertama Pasca Malaysia Lama @ The Bee, Publika

Still high on the whole ‘New Malaysia’ wave? Rock it out and celebrate the upcoming National Day with these bands: Couple, Spooky Wet Dreams, Kyoto Protocol, Son of a Policeman (SOAP), Senja and Orkes A Hizadin.
