The weird and the wonderful: All the enchanting masks and headpieces at Paris Haute Couture AW18

Paris Haute Couture Week is never complete without equally jaw-dropping accessories, and this season’s runways didn’t disappoint. An array of designers took the headpiece trend to the next level by incorporating intricate details, OTT blooms, and architectural structures into their collection—you name it, they’ve got it.

Arguably the most talked about piece of this season, is Iris Van Herpen’s hypnotising mask that is the designer’s take on the intertwining chemistry between biology and technology, resulting in a slightly psychedelic effect. Schiaparelli took their ‘animal kingdom’ theme literally with some head-turning masks down its catwalk. There were metallic leopard (complete with wings as ears) and flamingo masks that matched the prints of the ensembles, including a flower bouquet that encircled beautifully around the head. We loved some of the metallic headpieces that gave off warrior princess vibes too. Spot Galia Lahav’s metal veil in look 9; Givenchy’s fringed piece in look 14; Guo Pei’s King Triton-esque crown in look 18, and Tony Ward’s embellished headband in look 23.
