5 Newly launched bags to add to your closet, from Louis Vuitton, Dior, Gucci and more
The pandemic isn’t stopping major fashion houses from launching new collections, and now that we’re allowed to go out and about after months of lockdown, for those of you who are itching for a new arm candy to tote along, our list of lust-worthy additions below will surely have something that’ll catch your eye. It’s time to give your bag closet that mid-year spruce-up!
Below, 5 new bags to check out in stores now:
LV Pont 9
Louis Vuitton was the first among the lot to launch a new bag, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Dubbed the LV Pont 9, the arm candy is named after Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in Paris across the Seine river, which faces the French Maison’s headquarters.
Designed by creative director Nicolas Ghesquière, the calfskin bag comes in a rounded shape with a reinterpreted archival logo—the Louis Vuitton Circle—adorning the flap. That’s not it. A hidden feature in the form of a Monogram flower-inspired magnetic closure is not to be missed.
From the Saddle to the Book tote, there’s no denying that Maria Grazia Chiuri knows the key to It-bags. Her contender for 2020? The Dior Bobby bag, named after Monsieur Dior’s beloved dog.
Featuring a sleek half-moon shape, the hobo bag is decorated with the CD emblem in front, and it comes in three sizes and four colours (one in the Dior Oblique print) this season. Take your pick between the leather or the embroidered canvas strap—we’d go for the latter.
Salvatore Ferragamo Viva Bow
If you’re already a fan of Salvatore Ferragamo’s Viva pumps, its latest launch is definitely a must-have on your list. Enter the Viva Bow bag—a modern and timeless design that radiates that hint of girliness. Like its shoe counterpart, the updated grosgrain bow is the focal point of the bag, juxtaposed with padded soft nappa leather that gives it a plush finish.
Aside from its roomy interior that’s perfect for all our knick-knacks, we love how the detachable strap allows us to carry it in different ways, whether it’s crossbody or as a clutch.
Saint Laurent Solferino
Weeks after Blackpink’s Rosé Park is officially announced as the new face of Saint Laurent via its Autumn/Winter 2020 campaign, the brand wasted no time in rolling out a second instalment featuring the K-pop star and its new bag of the season: The Solferino.
A structured satchel with a metal monogram logo on its flap, the bag is launched in two sizes and two materials (suede or leather) so far, and it’s undoubtedly a great day-to-night pick.
Gucci Jackie 1961
There’s the Lady Dior at Dior, and at Gucci, there’s the Gucci Jackie. First launched in the ‘50s, the bag was renamed Jackie in 1961 after the former First Lady of the United States (and fashion icon) Jackie Kennedy was spotted carrying the bag on numerous occasions.
While the design has been reinterpreted several times throughout the years, Alessandro Michele’s version—which was first introduced during the Men’s Autumn/Winter 2020 show back in January—is a standout for one simple reason: It’s a unisex design that does not conform to a specific gender. Introduced under its non-binary division called Gucci Mx, the Jackie 1961 comes in three sizes and in a wide range of colours, including one in the GG Supreme motif.
