Louis Vuitton Cruise 2017: Tropical Heat

Inspired by the energy of the city of Rio de Janeiro and Brazilian idealism, Nicolas Ghesquière’s collection for Louis Vuitton Cruise 2017 is his sportiest outing for the maison yet, complete with colourblocked, hooded windbreakers, cropped tops that showed off the midriff and strappy ‘tech-thongs’ with rubberised soles for freedom of movement.

Dress, and ruched overlay, both Louis Vuitton

“In Rio de Janeiro, what I saw most of all was movement and an explosive energy that lives somewhere between modernism and tropicality. I was fascinated by the constant duality between nature and urbanism and the pictorial explosion it creates.” — Nicolas Ghesquière

“The main question for me was how to incorporate all these elements that are part of Brazilian culture into my collection, without forgetting that I am just a visitor who brings his own Parisian and French cultural references to the moment.” — Nicolas Ghesquière
