The most stylish—yet realistic—ways to dress your bump, according to these celebs

For the beautiful mama-to-be

These are the non-maternity maternity style inspo you need

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing. You have a baby growing inside of you, you’re nine months away from the next wonderful phase of your life, but at the same time, there’s no denying that the journey is not always smooth and easy. Besides having to get used to the changes in your body, dressing a growing bump can be tricky—it doesn’t help that the majority of maternity clothing in the market are not exactly the most fashionable.

If you need some style inspo to elevate your mama-to-be get-ups (you can only wear oversized T-shirts and leggings for so long), following the lead of your favourite celebrities is the easiest way to go. Instead of their baby bumpin' red carpet looks (let's be honest, how many of us can relate?), we’re taking cues from styles that can be emulated with ease. One thing these ensembles have in common? They’re all versatile designs that can be worn before and after you give birth.

Below, the best celebrity mums and mums-to-be looks to inspire your own maternity wardrobe:

Go with the flow

The best “non-maternity” way to dress your bump? Flowy dresses that can be worn during pregnancy and beyond. The stars below all opted for prairie dresses that exude femininity like no other. The trick is to get one with a higher waistline such as an empire-waist so it’ll fit perfectly over your belly.

Embrace the curves

Bodycon dresses may not be the first choice when it comes to maternity style, but they should be—there’s no better time to embrace and flaunt your blossoming bump! All you need is to make sure the fabric is stretchy enough.

Power up

You can count on tailored outerwear to give your baby bumpin’ style that sartorial power. Don’t worry if you don’t have a pantsuit that fits you—throwing an outerwear over a nice slip number (à la America Ferrera) works great too.

Keep it cosy

The loose and comfy sweaters made it onto our list for obvious reasons—the ones in your wardrobe could probably fit throughout your whole pregnancy. But if you’d like to tune up the ante, layer it over dressier pieces, such as an embroidered dress (as seen on Izara Aishah) or a sexy slip (as seen on Bar Refaeli).
