Venice Film Festival 2018: What the stars wore

The 75th Venice Film Festival officially kicked off last week, and while it may not be as big as Cannes, you can still count on your favourite celebrities to bring their A-game on the red carpet. A scroll through last year’s list and you’ll notice the flirty pink and blue hues, but this round, these leading ladies opted for a bolder colour palette—most of them turned up in black and red ensembles that are equally—if not more—head-turning. Cate Blanchett continued her stylish streak from Cannes in two black Armani Privé gowns that are anything but boring; one, in a plunging neckline and feather capelet, and the other, a metallic one-shoulder number.

When it comes to the colour red, camouflaging with the carpet is anything but a faux pas, proven by actresses such as Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson and Gabriella Wilde. Some other noteworthy mentions include: first-timer Lady Gaga who attended the premiere of her film, A Star is Born, in a feathery Valentino dress; Irina Shayk who flaunted her statuesque figure in a vintage gold Versace look; and the oh-so-chic Prada dresses worn by Naomi Watts, Matilda de Angelis and Hannah Gross.
