LFW SS16: Mary Katrantzou

A constant stream of speckled light seem to ricochet off Mary Katrantzou’s metallic, sequinned and crystal embroidered pieces during her S/S’16 show, and the mirrored backdrop didn’t help lessen that effect either.

The BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund 2015 winner’s collection was a dazzling hybrid of her signature bohemian style and folkloric Balkan elements, coupled with cosmic-like details and Rorschach inkblot prints.

The quality workmanship was more conspicuous in her later looks, with ruffled tiers on quilted dresses and sequinned strip paneling on minidresses. Subtle 70s-inspired technicalities were also present with bright-coloured Lurex ribbed leggings and bell-bottom chiffon pants.
