Confirmed: Kris Van Assche is the new artistic director at Berluti

Berluti has confirmed the rumours swirling for the past week since Haider Ackermann’s departure: Kris Van Assche is the brand’s new creative director, and he’ll be showing his first collection in January 2019. Aside from ready-to-wear, he will also be overseeing the shoes, leather goods and accessories collection. This is the latest shake-up not only in the menswear department, but also in brands under its parent company LVMH. Hedi Slimane was announced as Celine’s artistic, creative and image director earlier this year; Kim Jones is now at Dior Homme while Virgil Abloh took over his role as the men’s artistic director at Louis Vuitton.

Having recently left Dior Homme after 11 years with the brand, Antoine Arnault, the CEO of Berluti mentioned his admiration for the designer’s work in a statement, and stated his excitement for Kris Van Assche to join the brand. Kris Van Assche also thanked Antoine Arnault, the CEO of Berluti for the new role. “I have always wanted to build bridges between the savoir-faire, the heritage of a house and my clear-cut contemporary vision. Antoine Arnault spoke to me of his ambitions for Berluti and it is with great pleasure that I accept this new challenge which fits perfectly with my own will and vision.”
