#ShoeTrend AW16: It’s all about your sole

While a handful of trends got us raising our eyebrows this AW16—shearling outdoor boots and sharper toes especially—we can’t deny one similarity from various footwear picks we spotted on the runway (and presentations) this Men’s Fashion Week: It’s all about a hefty bottom right now.

 

Designers are weighing their shoe options as of late as they opt for heavier soles, lending an artistic flair to statement footwear instead of merely playing around with colour and texture. Kris Van Assche made outdoor footwear look ruggedly chic and street-fashion worthy via monkstrap boots with red hiker laces and obviously very thick insoles and outsoles; Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli of Valentino ensured all the brogues of the season were studded, and Burberry’s two-tone runners had eye-catching neon-hued soles that would guarantee that you’d be spotted from a mile away if you were out running in these.
