One year after #TimesUp, here’s what celebs wore to the Golden Globes 2019

Last year’s Golden Globes 2018 will go down in history as celebrities wore all-black ensembles in support of the #TimesUp movement, in response to the multiple sexual misconduct allegations and the coming forward of victims, voicing out against their abusers in the entertainment industry. A year after the train of all-black ensembles, this year’s red carpet was met with bright and cheery hues to kickstart awards season.

‘Tis a new year and time to spearhead 2019 with a clean slate and gleeful optimism. Lady Gaga (Look 1) lead the way in bright periwinkle (with hair to match), and Lupita Nyong’o (Look 2) glistened in a deep indigo off-shouldered heavily beaded dress. Claire Foy (Look 8) channeled old school Hollywood glamour in a plunging canary yellow gown and timeless jewellery while Anne Hathaway (Look 12) stepped up as a modern silver screen siren in a metallic bustier and fierce leopard print. Shimmer and sheen were also a common theme for the night with — Dakota Fanning (Look 7), Emily Blunt (Look 16), Saoirse Ronan (Look 27) and Thandie Newton (Look 30) rival for the most light-catching ensemble. On the other side of the spectrum, Charlize Theron (Look 13), Laura Harrier (Look 22), Rosamund Pike (Look 26) and Timothée Chalamet (Look 31) stayed with 2018’s hue as they anchored their looks in deep onyx.
