H&M announces Giambattista Valli as the designer of their yearly collab

H&M dropped big news today revealing that their yearly designer collab collection is with Giambattista Valli. The Italian-born, Paris-based designer is known for his romantic and feminine dresses, with tulle ball gowns and elaborate trains being his signature. The news was revealed during the amFar gala in Cannes as Giambattista Valli and H&M’s Creative Advisor Ann-Sofie Johansson walked the red carpet together followed by Kendall Jenner, Chris Lee, Chiara Ferragni, H.E.R., Bianca Brandolini d’Adda and Ross Lynch decked out in the limited-edition pre-drop collection.

For the first time ever, you can get your hands on the collab collection way before the regular November launch date. The limited-edition pre-drop collection will be available on 25 May 2019 on H&M’s website. The standout piece from the collection is the flared and flouncy tulle dress in neon pink (Kendall Jenner sports hers with a customised train) made out of six layers of tulle, cinched with one of Giambattista Valli’s signatures: a large bow. Our next favourite is the plush peach gown (as worn by Chris Lee) with a deep V-neck and elaborate frills on the shoulders, with a high-low hem that extends to a dreamy tulle train. The dresses range from RM899.95 to RM2,299.95, which is slightly steeper than what we’re used to when it comes to H&M’s designer collabs. But they way we see it, it’s a small price to pay to own a Giambattista Valli creation.
