Less than a year after her big debut during the Spring/Summer 2018 season, Kaia Gerber is now adding another title to her resume: fashion designer. Her stellar SS18 debut has caught the attention of Karl Lagerfeld (who gave her the coveted spot of opening the Chanel show), and now, a collaboration for his eponymous line is in the works. Set to launch globally in September, the capsule collection consists of ready-to-wear and accessories, including footwear, sunglasses and jewellery, and the pieces will be a mix of Karl’s “Parisian-chic aesthetic and Kaia’s signature West Coast casual style”.
Speaking of the team-up, the brand’s Chief Executive Officer Pier Paolo Righi says, “When Karl first told us his idea to collaborate with Kaia, we were all excited by the incredible potential and power of bringing their two worlds together. We have been working intensely over the last months with Kaia in L.A. and at our studio in Paris. It was exciting to see her clear vision, passion and engagement, and the collection will definitely inspire many young women.”
