Kaia Gerber is fast becoming the most popular breakout model this AW18 season with a host of runway shows under her belt. But the daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford has just cemented her status as fashion’s newest It-girl by landing her first Chanel campaign. After her third runway appearance for the French fashion house at the SS18 couture show last month, Karl Lagerfeld invited Gerber to the late Mademoiselle Chanel’s iconic apartment to shoot for the Spring/Summer 2018 handbag campaign.

Proving that Chanel is timelessness personified in every way, Lagerfeld juxtaposes the past and present through his lens with three black-and-white images. In them, Gerber sprawls on a ritzy suede sofa (replete with quilted cushions, no less), lounging with an envy-incuding array of bags. The new-season arm candy comes in a variety of touch-worthy materials, from the house’s signature embroidered tweed to coloured, transparent PVC; not to be missed is the latest Chanel Gabrielle handbag — now available in a lovely shade of mint green. One of our favourites, the Boy Chanel now sports menswear-leaning details inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s hunter’s cartridge belts she used to wear over her shoulder. And for the wanderlusting jetsetter, vanity and camera cases now boast exotic leathers and charms for a touch of sophisticated luxury.
