This Australian designer makes your Disney princess dreams come true

During the recent Adelaide Fashion Festival, Australian couture label Paolo Sebastian closed the five-day event with a one-of-a-kind collection that is nothing short of a fairytale. Titled Once Upon a Dream, the brand’s designer, Paul Vasileff showcased over 30 dreamy gowns that were inspired by our favourite Disney princess such as Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White and more, and one thing’s for sure: he brought the Disney magic to the show. To tune up the storybook vibe, Paul set the scene with an enchanted forest show space, and played a medley of the movies’ soundtracks as the models walked down the pathways. If the iconic Disney princesses’ wardrobes are given a modern revamp, these will be what they’re wearing.

In preparation for the collection, the designer was given the opportunity to visit the Disney archives in Los Angeles. And besides nailing the silhouettes, Paul also incorporated lyrics from the theme songs and passages from the books to complete the Disney references. Little details such as clock-work (Cinderella), poison apple (Snow White) and underwater (Snow White) embroideries gave the dreamy collection that bit of quirky appeal.
