Uniqlo collaborates with Finnish design house Marimekko

Attention: Marimekko fans—you’ll soon be able to sport its signature prints on your sleeves. Uniqlo has announced that it’ll be partnering up with the Finnish design house for a nine-piece collection, and while this isn’t Marimekko’s first clothing collaboration (it launched a collection for Target three years back), you can expect the bold motifs to be peppered all over everyday pieces such as T-shirts, blouses, culottes and dresses. Accessories such as sneakers and two bag designs will also be introduced. Aside from Marimekko’s trademark prints, its designer Maija Louekari will also be coming up with a brand-new motif, which is inspired by nature and urban lifestyle.

“The special-edition collaboration collection allows us to share the joy of bold self-expression in print and color with consumers around the world. We can’t wait to see how people will wear the pieces in the collection to reflect their own style and personality.” — Tiina Alahuhta-Kasko, President and CEO of Marimekko
