BURO Spotlights: Asics’ SportStyle Pop-up in Siam Center, Bangkok
Built for the streets

Bringing people together through style, culture, and creativity, Asics hosted its first SportStyle pop-up in Bangkok from 29 to 31 March at Siam Center. Drawing inspiration from the stillness of a Zen garden, the installation paid homage to the brand’s Japanese heritage while offering a fresh perspective on its design philosophy.
With hands-on activities such as caricature drawing, charm-making, and a photo booth, the immersive space invited visitors to create, connect, and leave with something uniquely theirs. The event also served as the launchpad for Asics’ new SportStyle campaign, fronted by Yorch and Hong of the K-pop group Pow.
“The SportStyle category has experienced remarkable growth over the past year, and this pop-up is not only the perfect way to celebrate just that, but an opportunity for us to connect with our community and showcase the innovative designs that define Asics as we continue to establish ourselves as a leader in the industry,” says Trin Thanakittivara, Country Manager of Asics Thailand.

Inside the pop-up, Asics introduced new releases, such as the Gel-DS Trainer™ 14. This updated classic merges nostalgic elements with contemporary comfort, thanks to its asymmetric upper and sleek tooling. Crafted from at least 75 per cent recycled materials, it’s a more conscious choice for everyday wear.
Also on display was the Gel-Kinetic Fluent™, which reinterprets vintage running silhouettes with a modern performance edge. Scutoid Gel™ technology and sustainable cushioning combine to deliver lasting comfort and energy with every step.
Another highlight was the Gel-Nimbus® 10.1—a cult favourite reimagined with late-2000s references and reengineered for today’s needs. With its asymmetric mesh upper, dual-layer EVA foam, and GEL technology, the trainer delivers all-day comfort and stability, making it a strong contender for daily rotation.
Asics keeps the momentum going with the third release of its in-house Sportstyle Apparel collection. Grounded in three core pillars—sport, history, and human-centric design—the latest offering champions versatility through functional outerwear, eco-conscious basics, and adaptable accessories that move seamlessly between activity and downtime. Think water-repellent outerwear, recycled tees, and customisable socks.
