Following last year’s absence and two postponements, the Cannes 2021 Film Festival returned with its iconic red carpet (and Covid-19 measures in place) to provide all the high fashion moments we’ve missed since the pandemic started.
As always, the world’s leading actors, directors and producers, and a stream of supermodels flocked to the French Riviera with their A-game style in tow. Fantastical looks from both men and women alike stole the spotlight this year, with many stars looking to the recent couture week for inspiration, including Bella Hadid’s headlining Schiaparelli moment that came straight from the house’s recent AW21 collection. Spike Lee in Virgil Abloh’s Louis Vuitton! The Oscar-winning director was eye-catching in this hot pink double-breasted suit which he completed with custom Nike Air Jordan’s in a French flag colour way.
France’s former first lady and model Carla Bruni was the epitome of elegance in a crystal-embellished pastel-blue Celine gown.
Jodie Foster made an appearance in a custom Givenchy gown featuring small cut-outs and embroidered pixel motifs.
French actress Isabelle Huppert looked chic in a sleek black turtleneck gown from Balenciaga’s Spring 2022 collection.
Andie MacDowell glittered in a Versace white evening gown enriched with Swarovski crystals. The look was completed with a silver metallic clutch and white satin shoes, also by the brand.
