KLFW 2024: All the details you need to know about the local fashion week

Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) is gearing up for its highly anticipated 12th edition later this month, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Petronas Twin Towers. Scheduled from July 29 to August 4, 2024, the fashion affair promises a spectacular display of local talents in a bespoke venue, offering a week brimming with creativity and style for fashion enthusiasts to enjoy. 

The dedicated show space stretches across the entire Esplanade of KLCC park, boasting an impressive 12,000 sq ft area. The single-storey layout features the main show hall, runways, and multiple activation spaces—accommodating up to 500 guests per show. While originally intended for invited guests, the public can also experience the event live via a large LED screen panel, marking KLFW’s inaugural public broadcast in this immersive format.

 “KLFW 2024 and its new iconic show space for the year is a testament to our 12-year journey in advocating for the homegrown fashion industry, made possible by the support of designers, sponsors, partners, and the local fashion-savvy community,” Andrew Tan, founder of KLFW shared in a statement.

KLFW 2024 will also see the debut of several ready-to-wear labels, including Ghostboy, Larney, Shals, Tact, Akudesign, and Corak. Veteran bespoke designer Fuzana Mokhtaza will make her first appearance as well, sharing the runway with local fashion powerhouses like Rizman Ruzaini, Fiziwoo, Nurita Harith, Kit Woo, and Alia Bastamam. 

What’s more, KLFW 2024 is paying homage to cultural icons with ‘Fashion Forward Batik Malaysia,’ highlighting the artistry of Batik, featuring Kelantan-based brand Ruzzgahara. Another exciting highlight is the ‘Design To Sustain’ segment, presented in partnership with the launch of the new Peugeot 408. This segment will showcase the creations of 15 finalists from the KLFW Designer Search 2024.

Following KLFW 2024, two exciting initiatives are set to unfold: Fashion Connect.24 and the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Awards (KLFA). Fashion Connect.24 will host a full day of engaging discussions and experiences with designers, industry experts, and cultural figures. Meanwhile, KLFA aims to acknowledge and celebrate Malaysia’s renowned designers and industry leaders. These events underscore ongoing efforts to foster and honour the country’s vibrant fashion landscape.
