5 Pet cafes in KL that are worth a visit

Pet cafes are no longer an uncommon matter; so much so that some places have a more unique and specific type of animal that takes up residence. Bangkok has a husky cafe while Japan has an owl cafe (and a bunny one too). But for them, they had a head start in the pet cafe culture. For us in Malaysia, we now only have cat and dog cafes and frankly, no one is complaining. Here is a list of pet cafes in Klang Valley for you to visit.

For dog lovers

1. Clawset Cafe, Damansara Jaya

Possibly one of the most popular dog cafes in town, Clawset is owned by the pet salon next door, which probably explains why all the resident dogs there are so well groomed. They have, however, recently added a ‘Grumpy Cat’ to the family. For the humans, there is an extensive menu ranging from Western food to Asian to desserts and for the pets, they get a simpler variety to choose from.

Clawset Cafe is located at 36A, Jalan SS22/25, Damansara Jaya, 47400 Petaling Jaya.

2. Cubs & Cups, Desa Sri Hartamas

If you have a soft spot for Siberian Huskies then Cubs & Cups is a definite must-visit for one simple reason: Cola. Of course, she’s not the only reason as her adorable family includes Mocha the Alaskan Malamute, Nacho the Pomeranian and new member Mochi the Japanese Spitz. If you’re bringing your dog(s), there is a special menu for them too.

Cubs & Cups is located at Lot 22, Wisma Rapid, Jalan 30/70A, Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480, Kuala Lumpur.

3. The Hound, OUG

While The Hound isn’t a full-on dog cafe with a handful number of resident canine friends, the cafe was opened to welcome guests and their furkids to hang out. And to welcome visitors is Cookie, a friendly four-year-old Beagle, which probably explains the name of the cafe. As for food, we definitely recommend the cakes.

The Hound is located at 44-A, Jalan Hujan Emas 4, OUG, 58200 Kuala Lumpur.

For cat lovers

4. Purradise Cat Cafe, TTDI

Unlike dog cafes, cat ones all come with an entry fee-at least to the ‘cat play area’. But for Purradise, the whole cafe is that area with free-roaming cats ready to meet (or ignore) you. What makes them unique is that all the cats there were rescued and some are even up for adoption.

Entry to Purradise Cat Cafe is priced at RM15 per person (with a free drink) for the first hour and located at No. 24A (First Floor), Jalan Tun Mohd Fuad 2, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, 60000 Kuala Lumpur.

5. Good Meowing Cafe, Cheras

Similar to #5, Good Meowing Cafe has a designated cat area but with a fee for entrance. The resident felines were either strays or from breeders but it’s the British Shorthairs that definitely have the spotlight.

Entry to Good Meowing Cafe is priced at RM5 per person for 30 minutes and is located at No 1, Jalan Suasana 2/7A, Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, 43200 Cheras.
