6 Alternative places to watch the NYE fireworks in KL

We’ve rounded up some of KL’s best parties to be at this New Year’s Eve 2018 complete with a stunning view of the fireworks show and drinks (and some spots, food included); and you already know the It-places to see the fireworks display. But understandably, not everyone is into roughing it out with the intense crowd at KLCC Park (for example) and so if that sounds like you, head over to these alternative spots in KL instead.

1. Jalan Bukit Pantai, Bangsar

One of the busier roads in Bangsar, there is a spot here that hosts a picture-perfect view of the city skyline. Park your car on the side of the road (be sure not to obstruct traffic), and take a short walk to find the spot. Tip #1: It’s near Pantai Towers. Tip #2: Over the years, it has become quite a popular spot so do drop by a little earlier to get a good parking space. Happy hunting!

2. Changkat Semantan

A relatively quiet neighbourhood away from the city centre, you’ll also be able to find a nice spot to watch the fireworks light up the KL city skyline from up here. Tip: It’s on the road where Be Urban Wellness is.

3. Bukit Tunku

Get an early dinner and grab a ton of snacks because if you neatly park yourself at the top of that hill (again, without obstructing traffic), you’ll be sure to have a clear view of the city skyline.

4. ASEAN Sculpture Garden

Take a leisurely stroll in this landscaped garden featuring a collection of prize-winning sculptures and exhibits crafted by artists from the ASEAN region, and end the night with a majestic view of the fireworks display from the iconic KL Tower and Petronas Twin Towers.

5. Bukit Permai, Cheras

Also known as Mini Genting, this hilltop lookout point is nestled in a residential area in Cheras, so expect a bit of a crowd as residents from the neighbourhood will be here to catch the NYE celebrations too. But it’ll still be less of a hustle compared to the usual hot spots, plus you get a sweeping view of the city skyline.

6. Swiss-Garden Residences Kuala Lumpur

Book an apartment (albeit a little last minute) with a view of both the KL Tower and Petronas Twin Towers and enjoy the grand view in a comfortable room. Just walking distance away from the happening Bukit Bintang and Changkat area, VCR café is also just next door for your cuppa fix before closing out the year.

Bonus: Port Dickson Beach

Celebrate NYE by the beach for a nice change. Just one and a half hours drive from KL, Port Dickson may not be the ultimate beach destination, but it will serve well as a quick getaway from the city, plus you get to enjoy fireworks at a beach.
