The average resting heart rate for adults ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute. But under thrilling circumstances, it might just go higher than that. One thing’s for sure, you can’t control it like you can control the waves made by an indoor surfing machine so, we dared yoga instructor Hansen Lee, and model and TV host Melissa Tan to take on our Heart Rate Challenge. Divided into three stages, they had to start with a quick warm-up (one minute of burpees) before jumping straight into the real deal: Bodyboarding and flowriding. To measure the results, we used the new Fossil Q Gen 4 smartwatches, which now offer heart-rate tracking. Bonus point, they’re also swimproof.
