Checking in: Experience modern sophistication at Hotel Toranomon Hills
Minimalist luxury

Tokyo is renowned for its bustling pace and energy, with districts like Shibuya and Shinjuku constantly pulsing with vibrant activity, day and night. Amidst this fast-moving urban landscape lies Toranomon Hills, offering a refreshing change of pace—the complete opposite of Tokyo’s busier areas. This quaint neighbourhood blends business spaces with sophisticated urban redevelopment, yet there’s still plenty to explore. The district combines sleek, modern architecture with pockets of tranquillity, making it ideal for those who want to stay in the heart of the city but far from the chaos.
At the heart of this oasis is Hotel Toranomon Hills, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. With its serene atmosphere, contemporary design, and exceptional amenities, the hotel offers a perfect balance of relaxation and sophistication. Guests can enjoy breathtaking views from their rooms—imagine waking up to Tokyo Tower on the horizon—indulge in exquisite culinary offerings or unwind in the hotel’s lounge, all while staying well-connected to the city’s vibrant districts. We recently stayed at the hotel during our trip to Tokyo, and we’d love to take you on a grand tour.
WELL-APPOINTED ROOMS

The 205 rooms, including 30 suites, at Hotel Toranomon Hills strike the perfect balance between comfort and functionality, with panoramic views of Tokyo’s skyline—some featuring the iconic Tokyo Tower. The décor is minimalist, with thoughtful touches such as fibreglass light fixtures and carefully curated artwork to complement the space. Though compact, the bathrooms are elegantly appointed with premium amenities, including rain showers, bathrobes, slippers, and Nemohamo bath products. Each room also features a water filtration faucet for added convenience. Designed to evoke Scandinavian and Japanese architectural aesthetics, the rooms are a haven of comfort—we appreciated the minimalist approach, as it evoked a sense of tranquillity after a long day of exploring Tokyo.
THE LOUNGE-IEST LOUNGE

Although the hotel features a high-tech gym, it compensates for the lack of a swimming pool with The Lounge. Accessible to all hotel guests, this 3,767 sq. ft space features over six-metre-high floor-to-ceiling windows, offering spectacular views of the Tokyo skyline and the iconic Tokyo Tower. The Lounge is furnished with an abundance of comfortable chairs, meeting rooms, and even showers—ideal for guests arriving before check-in or with late flights. Whether you’re catching up on work, networking, or simply relaxing with complimentary refreshments, The Lounge offers an exceptional space to unwind. In fact, it’s one of the best hotel lounges we’ve ever experienced.
STAR-QUALITY DINING
ICYMI, Le Pristine Tokyo at Hotel Toranomon Hills is helmed by Michelin-starred chef Sergio Herman. The Dutch chef-entrepreneur previously brought his family’s restaurant, Oud Sluis, to fame in the Netherlands, earning three Michelin stars annually since 2005, along with regular appearances on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. Although Herman closed Oud Sluis in 2013, he has continued his culinary legacy by opening several restaurants in the Netherlands and Belgium before making his Asian debut at Le Pristine Tokyo.
The restaurant offers contemporary European cuisine with a cosmopolitan twist—what Herman describes as the ‘new Italian’. Each dish is meticulously crafted using thoughtfully sourced ingredients from Zeeland, a coastal province in the Netherlands renowned for its succulent seafood, and paired with seasonal Japanese elements. Menu highlights include the Salad ‘Le Pristine’, Seafood Orecchiette, and Tiramisu Collapsed. If you have room for two desserts, we highly recommend the homemade vanilla ice cream—rich, creamy, and so delicious that we still crave it to this day!

It’s all casual here at Le Pristine Tokyo, no suit or ties required! The space reflects Sergio’s love for music, art, design, and fashion, creating a lively, immersive atmosphere. Guests can choose to sit indoors, at the bar, or on the outdoor terrace, where the vibrant energy of the restaurant flows seamlessly. With great food, music, and attentive staff, every meal becomes an unforgettable experience. If you’re looking for casual bites, there is the Le Pristine Café Tokyo which offers all-day dining options from breakfast to dinner.
In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Toranomon Hills, which perfectly embodies comfort, luxury, and convenience. The hotel is directly connected to the train station, making it easy to explore Tokyo’s many attractions. Although located in one of the city’s quieter neighbourhoods, it provided the perfect retreat to recharge after navigating the crowds in busier districts. Every morning, we woke up feeling refreshed and ready to explore the city again—and again.
