#BuroEats: 7 New cafes and restaurants in KL to visit for June 2019

1. BUNCH, Petaling Jaya

If fancy food courts can gather old-time favourites from the street under one roof, why can’t someone do the same for cafes? Well, someone (or maybe it was a few people) did think of it and thus, BUNCH was born. From My Elephant to The Owls Cafe to Forty Licks, you’ll find something for everyone under one very Instagram-worthy roof—with various styles of spaces within. Be warned though; the concept/place is still rather new so there might be some challenges with the payment methods (based on reviews so far).

Psst… BUNCH also doubles as an event space, if you’re interested.

Address: No. 2, Jalan 51A/225, Seksyen 51A, 46100 Petaling Jaya

Opening hours:

Weekdays: 10am – 10pm

Weekends: 10am – 11pm

2. Chye Seng Foo Coffee Shop, Cheras

Come here for hearty food bowls, decent coffee and cozy corners. They do offer oat milk as an alternative for your cuppa, so that deserves some brownie points. Desserts, on the other hand, are pretty on the plate, and pleasing on the palate.

Address: 268, Jalan Cheras, Taman Miharja, 55100 Kuala Lumpur

Opening hours: 9.30am – 10.30pm, closed on Thurs

3. TheLoaf, Pavilion KL

Yes, the bakery that was once linked to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and which closed over a year ago, has returned with a new owner and a spanking fresh direction. If aesthetics are what pleases you, TheLoaf at Pavilion KL will surely deliver.

4. Chewie Mellow, Setapak

If you’re a fan of Taiwanese desserts (like Snowflake-style), Chewie Mellow is certainly worth the trip a visit. Options for toppings are aplenty and even better, the portions are generous. It’s exactly what we need on a hot Malaysian day. They’ve also starting serving savoury rice/noodle bowls.

Address: No. 52A, Jalan Danau Niaga 1, Crystal Ville, 53300 Setapak, Kuala Lumpur

Opening hours: 11.30am – midnight, daily

5. The Public House, Bangsar South

From great comfort food (with a twist!) to a gorgeous space to an astounding collection of wine, The Public House by the Vintry Group ticks a lot of checkboxes on our list. Even better, fans of the group’s crispy siu yuk is also available.

Address: G7-G8, The Sphere, Bangsar South, Jalan Kerinchi, Kuala Lumpur

Opening hours: 12pm – late, daily

6. Rage Bangsar

Rage, first and foremost, aims to serve delicious coffee as well as matcha drinks. The cherry on top is that the space looks quite millennial too, with pops of neon pink. Catered to digital nomads who are often in search for high speed WiFi to do their work, Rage took it an extra step and added a boxing room and ping pong table—in case work got you into a little rage.

Address: Menara UOA Bangsar, LGF-3A, 5, Jalan Bangsar Utama 1, Kuala Lumpur

Opening hours:

Weekdays: 8am – 8pm

Saturday: 9am – 2pm

7. Pizza Mansion

myPizzaLab has some tough competition in the huge Petaling Jaya neighbourhood as Pizza Mansion recently set up shop at Happy Mansion. Their wood-fired pizza is cooked to a crispy crust while mozarella oozes on top of the dough with perfection, fusing with your selected toppings, making every bite more addictive than the last.

Address: BG3, Block B, Happy Mansion, Jalan 17/13, Section 17, 46400 Petaling Jaya

Opening hours: 12pm onwards, daily
