Weekends are for brunch with the Washoku Sushi Boats at Wasabi Bistro @ Mandarin Oriental KL

Whoever said brunch is a Western thing clearly has never met Chef Hiro Sakamoto of Wasabi Bistro. He loves to experiment artistic and creative food combinations. He believes that exceptional dining experiences bring joy to life. He recently created Washoku Brunch, which stars three captivating Sushi Boat Sets and is only available on the weekends. 

The presentation is fancy but rest assured that the taste and (the freshness) of the boat’s ‘passengers’—an assortment of sushi, sashimi, appetisers, and tempura—is authentic. There are three sets for you to choose from: Shogun, Sakura and Samurai. Of these options, we had the mid-range Sakura.

While there was a maximum of four of us, as per noted by the menu, we could only finish three-quarters of the boat. The portion is no doubt generous. A special mention should be given to their bestselling appetiser, Kumi’s No. 1. Made with shredded crabstick, avocado, white fish, seaweed and their ‘secret sauce’, it left us wanting more. All in all, you’ll be sure to leave the restaurant with a happy and indulged stomach. Check out below for the remaining two set menus.
