Priced at RM818,000, the marque's latest release in Malaysia wows on all front. Heres's everything you need to know

The British automaker made waves in the motoring industry when they announced the release of the DBX back in December 2020. This is Aston Martin's inaugural SUV in its 106-year-old history after all. Marking a new horizon for the brand with its arrival, the DBX is finally available here in the Malaysian market—and its thoroughly exciting.

Introduced by Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur, the DBX is founded on the principles of beauty, luxury and driving dynamics as well as powered by the spirit of adventure. These are elements you are sure to notice in the vehicle. Virtual development for the DBX began in 2015 and physical testing started in Wales in 2018.

Using bonded aluminium, the body structure of the DBX is described as both light and stiff—helping in the delivery of an overall kerbweight of 2,245 kilogrammes. To provide the new SUV with a huge breadth of ability, the latest 48-volt electric anti-roll control system (eARC) and electronic adaptive dampers are combined with adaptive triple volume air suspension.

The DBX is powered by a new version of the four-litre, twin turbocharged V8 engine found in DB11 and Vantage—and paired with a nine-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The new SUV can go from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in 4.5 seconds and has  a top speed of 290 kilometres per hour. Oh, this is also Aston Martin's first ever full-size five-seater.

On the outside, this is an Aston Martin from first glance to detailed inspection. It's apparent with the signature ‘DB' grille at the front, the sculptured sides, design feature line, and the tailgate with a flip that draws inspiration from Vantage. That isn't all as sleekness and elegance are added through the presence of the hidden side glass seals on the frameless doors and glass B-pillar finishers.

To reduce both drag and lift while also cooling the brakes, the daytime running lights (DRLs) have an integrated aerodynamic duct at the car's front—channelling air through the front wheel arches and along the side. In addition, cabin noise is said to be kept to a minimum at speed using computational aeroacoustics technology.

As for the interior, you will find a full-length glass panoramic roof and frameless door glass, separate central armrests, and glovebox design. The seats are trimmed in full grain leather, sourced from long-term partner, Bridge of Weir—and both the headlining and electric roof blind are available in Alcantara finish. This is an industry first.

The Aston Martin DBX comes with a myriad of innovative materials and another industry first—the application of a fabric made from 80 per cent wool. There is a 10.25-inch TFT screen in the centre console and a huge 12.3-inch TFT screen providing information to the driver. Other things to note include the 360º camera system and ambient lighting offering 64 different colours in two zones.

With its all-wheel drive system, the DBX will be built in Britain at the automaker's new manufacturing plant in St Athan, Wales. Priced at RM818,000, the DBX is now available for viewing. Clearly, this is a vehicle that Aston Martin is truly proud of and rightly so. What are your thoughts on the DBX?
