The first-ever BMW M8 Coupé and first-ever BMW M8 Gran Coupé are now in Malaysia

Just in time for the month of Merdeka, BMW Malaysia has introduced the newest high-powered members to the automaker’s portfolio of luxury vehicles. With the powerful M DNA, the latest variants help strengthen its Story of Independent Style.

Upping the ante on the grandeur that is the BMW M segment, the models were launched at the Secret Garage @ M Town—based on the iconic BMW M Secret Garage that’s hidden somewhere within the BMW M facility in Munich, Germany.

What’s similar between the BMW M8 Coupé and the BMW M8 Gran Coupé is the newly-introduced BMW 8 Series design language. This means muscular sculpted surfaces, distinctive characteristics in the frontal appearance, M-specific front apron, BMW kidney grille with M-specific decorative mesh, double slats, and M8 designation. On the two latest releases, you will also notice that the BMW Laserlights are situated just a little higher than the kidney grille.

Other notable design highlights for both models include exterior mirrors with the characteristic M twin-stalk design, frameless side windows, the BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line, the M rear spoiler, M-specific M8 rear diffuser, and M-specific exhaust system with twin tailpipes and chrome trims. In addition to these, the BMW M8 Coupé and BMW M8 Gran Coupé are equipped with the soft-close function for doors and carbon roof made of self-coloured carbon-fibre reinforced plastic—reducing weight and decreasing the centre of gravity.

As for the engine, the vehicles are powered by the 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology—allowing the cars to achieve the century sprint in only 3.3 seconds. Described as the most powerful BMW M engine ever built for a production model, the M8 Coupé and M8 Gran Coupé have a top speed of 250 kilometres per hour. They are also equipped with a new eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic.

Now, let’s take a look at the interior. Both variants come with an all digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a high-resolution 10.25-inch Control Display, and a full-colour Head-Up Display with additional M-specific displays as well as the M-specific gearshift lever knob, M seat belts, and the 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system with 464-watt amplifier power.

Creating a sporty, sophisticated, and luxurious appearance is the combination of the M Sport seats with their illuminated M logo, the full-leather dashboard and door trim panels, as well as the M8 wordmark on the door entry sills. Furthermore, the rear seats for both models are upholstered in Merino leather as standard. Say yes to comfort while driving!

How about the safety features in both the M8 Coupé and M8 Gran Coupé? Providing comfort and safety in these 600-horsepower vehicles are assistance systems such as Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, the Driving Assistant Professional,Parking Assistant Plus, Lane Keeping Assistant with side collision protection, Lane Change Assistant, Crossing-traffic Warning, and the Reversing Assistant.

We have finally arrived at one of the most important sections—the colours. You have seven different colour options to choose from. They are Alpine White, Brands Hatch Grey, Marina Bay Blue, Motegi Red, Black Sapphire, Donington Grey, and Barcelona Blue. The interiors for both the M8 Coupé and M8 Gran Coupé are furnished with the Merino Leather offering but you can decide between Silverstone or Black. What do you think of the latest additions to BMW Malaysia’s portfolio of luxury high-performance vehicles?

The BMW M8 Coupé and BMW M8 Gran Coupé are priced at RM1,452,960.88 and RM1,455,145.25 respectively. For more information, visit this website.
