BMW: The X1 sDrive20i M Sport and 320i Sport are the first 2020 additions in Malaysia

The German automaker is a massively popular brand and that comes with no surprise. BMW is known for a lot; with luxury and performance being some of them. BMW’s prowess is also rather apparent in Malaysia—just spot the amount of BMW vehicles on roads in Kuala Lumpur. For 2020, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry aims to strengthen the automotive industry. With that, BMW Malaysia has decided to introduce two new variants to the portfolio of locally-assembled vehicles: the BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport and BMW 320i Sport. Are these fresh new rides worth checking out? Find out below.

In addition to performance, these are some interesting characteristics of the X1 sDrive20i M Sport’s exteriors. First of all, you will notice that the two halves of the kidney grille are now joined at the centre. Furthermore, the front bumper is also redesigned and integrated with LED fog lights plus larger air intakes. Spot the hexagonal shape of the LED headlights’ tubes; do you agree that the design makes the new model look more dynamic? As for the wheels, the X1 sDrive20i M Sport comes with 18-inch M light alloy wheels.

There is a new addition to the BMW 3 Series lineup and it’s the 320i Sport. It has the ability to go from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in 7.1 seconds as well as a top speed of 235 kilometres per hour. For every 100 kilometres of travel, the BMW 320i Sport consumes 6.3 litres of fuel. All these are in addition to the two-litre TwinPower Turbo petrol engine and eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission.

The 320i Sport comes with 18-inch light alloy wheels in V-Spoke Style 780 Bicolour. What really stands out is the integration of the front LED fog lights and the air curtains into the outer air intakes. Fun Fact: the above became a design feature for classical racing cars after the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) first made it for the intake air in jet engines. Interesting, indeed!

Apart from that, you will also spot the BMW Live Cockpit Plus—with 8.8-inch touch sensitive control display and an analogue instrument cluster with 5.7-inch display. What else is there to know about the BMW 320i Sport? Firstly, it is powered by the BMW Operating System Six. Secondly, the Reversing Assistance aims to help you reverse with more ease in narrow streets. Thirdly, Near Field Communication (NFC) technology is employed by the BMW Digital Key so compatible cell-phones can be used to lock and unlock (plus start the engine) without actually needing a physical key.
