What competition? Meet the all-new BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition

BMW Malaysia is really bringing the heat with launches after launches—but who’s complaining? After unveiling the new X1 sDrive18i and M135i xDrive, BMW Malaysia released the first-ever BMW M8 Coupé and BMW M8 Gran Coupé. Now, Malaysians can also own two new high-powered additions to the BMW X family: the BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition.

The expansion of the BMW X portfolio of Sports Activity Vehicles (SAV) and Sports Activity Coupés (SAC) means that there is a whole new level of speed and performance in the segment.

Both the new BMW M models are powered by the newly-developed three-litre M TwinPower Turbo straight-six petrol engine—allowing the variants to go from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in 4.1 seconds. They can both generate a top speed of 250 kilometres per hour with power transmitted through an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic. For extremely short shift times, there are three Drivelogic modes: Efficient, Sport, and Sport Plus.

On the inside, entry sills bearing the M model designation and front seats with active seat ventilation and lumbar support are fitted for front passengers. In addition to that, the BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition are also equipped with the M leather steering wheel with shift paddles, red M Drive buttons, and a red Start/Stop button. Side note: the seat backrest adjustment for rear seat passengers and roller sunblind for rear side windows are available exclusively for the BMW X3 M Competition.

As for the exteriors, you will notice characteristically M design elements in both the BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition. Built to ensure optimal ventilation for the front brakes under high thermal loads, the front section of the vehicles is made up of a unique front apron and large, hexagonal air intake.

Moreover, adding a recognisable sound when going full throttle and at high revs are its four black chrome tailpipes. Standard for both models are 21-inch bicolour M light alloy wheels, Adaptive M suspension, black kidney grille surrounds, side gills, and wing mirror caps.

What sets the X3 M Competition apart from the X4 M Competition is its slim diffuser in high-gloss Black and an M-specific roof spoiler. The latter is equipped with a black aerodynamic spoiler at the rear.

In addition to the 10.25-inch Control Display and the Harman Kardon surround-sound system with 600W amplifier power, the new BMW M models are equipped with the Head-Up Display with M-specific display variants, the Parking Assistant Plus featuring Surround View, and Remote 3D Service.

What is your favourite colour? Let’s see if you’ll be able to get them on the X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition. The exterior colour offerings include Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Donington Grey, Phytonic Blue, Sophisto Grey, and Toronto Red. As for the inside, the new models can be furnished in Black, Sakhir Orange, or Adelaide Grey. Tens across the board, indeed! Are the new variants for you or do you prefer something else from the BMW portfolio?

The BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition are priced at RM886,551.58 and RM904,276.60 respectively. For more information, visit this website.
