Range Rover: Everything you need to know about the all-new Evoque in Malaysia

Since the Range Rover Evoque’s first production in 2011, the compact SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) has cemented a massive reputation on the road. Everyone knows how a Range Rover Evoque looks—further enforcing the model’s status in society. The model has also appeared in music videos such as Closer by The Chainsmokers with Halsey and films such as Skyfall.

Now, Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia has officially launched the new 2020 Range Rover Evoque luxury compact SUV—with new one-of-a-kind features to take things up a notch. Equipped with the first ground view technology in the world and Smart Settings for the application of artificial intelligence algorithms, the all-new Range Rover Evoque is not one to miss.

Performance

The 2020 Range Rover Evoque comes with a new two-litre Petrol Turbocharged Ingenium engine that’s paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. With the twin scroll turbocharged petrol engine, expect a faster response to throttle demand. Thanks to the boost pressure that’s delivered near-instantaneously, drives are bound to be more engaging.

The Evoque variant has a top speed of 216 kilometres per hour whereas the R-Dynamic has a top speed of 230 kilometres per hour. The former can go from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in 8.5 seconds whereas the latter can achieve the century sprint in 7.5 seconds.

Exterior

On the outside, the Evoque’s iconic silhouette remains, but with interesting additions. Aesthetic improvements to the new Evoque include new slim LED headlights and taillights as well as flush door handles.

There are more exterior enhancements and offerings for the R-Dynamic variant—such as burnished copper accents on the front and rear bumpers as well as front fender inserts.

Standard on the Evoque variant are 20-inch Style 5076 Five Split-spoke Gloss Sparkle Silver wheels. As for the R-Dynamic variant, the model is equipped with 20-inch Style 5079 Five Split-spoke Gloss Sparkle Silver wheels.

Interior

Central to the vehicle’s digital interior experience is the Land Rover InControl Touch Pro Duo infotainment system. It’s a combination of two sleek 10-inch high-definition glass touchscreens and a 12.3-inch driver display that’s positioned behind the steering wheel. The infotainment system is standard in both Evoque and Evoque R-Dynamic variants. Moreover, with Apple CarPlay, you can be connected to your smartphone while the 4G Wi-Fi hotspot connects you to the internet.

As for sound, the new Range Rover Evoque is equipped with The Meridian Sound System with a total of 11 speakers—including a subwoofer.

Features

A standard feature for both variants is an All-Wheel Drive with Driveline Disconnect technology. It allows the driver to disengage drive to the rear wheels completely when cruising—thus, allowing the reduction of frictional losses. In addition to that, when conditions dictate a need for additional traction, the system re-engages in a fraction of a second seamlessly. With the Terrain Response 2 system, surface conditions will automatically be matched by adjusting the vehicle’s driving character.

The R-Dynamic has a plethora of features exclusive to that variant. This includes the segment’s first “ClearSight Rear View Mirror”—transforming into a high-definition (HD) video screen when activated. With just a flick of a switch that’s located on the underside of the mirror, a camera feed from the top of the car will be activated to display the back end of the vehicle.

Furthermore, with the first “ClearSight Ground View” technology in the world, drivers can see through the hood and under the front end of the vehicle virtually. This is executed by projecting a 180º view of the ground onto the vehicle’s upper touchscreen. If you’re tackling rough terrains or navigating a tight parking space, this technology will be your best friend.

Next, the inclusion of Smart Settings means that the new Evoque is also the first Land Rover model to be equipped with the feature that learns the driver’s preference. Throughout the drive, comfort and driver-specific media settings will be automated. With the use of “self-learning” technology, specific seat and steering column positions are set up upon the driver’s approach. Did you know that a total of eight driver profiles can be registered?

With the all-new variants, it’s clear Land Rover has plans to up the ante on the Range Rover Evoque vehicles—giving them a look and feel that’s reflective of the zeitgeist. They are available in Silicon Silver, Firenze Red, Santorini Black, Seoul Pearl Silver, Yulong White, and Carpathian Grey. What are your thoughts on the 2020 Range Rover Evoque?

Evoque and Evoque R-Dynamic are priced at RM426,828 and RM475,398 respectively. For more information, visit this website.
