Remember going to Aquaria in KLCC as a child? The oceanarium brought joy and happiness to many of us. Some waited for the shark-feeding sessions while the rest stared in awe of 5,000 land bound and aquatic creatures. If you walked through the Living Ocean tunnel, chances are, you’d have been astonished at the sight of sand tiger sharks, tawny nurse sharks, and honeycomb stingray. Malaysians can now jump for joy as a new aquarium that’s the first of its kind in the country will be opening soon.

Slated to open in 2024, the upcoming Lexis Hibiscus 2 in Port Dickson will feature a sunken aquarium with a built-in restaurant. This five-star luxury resort is planned to have 760 rooms, comprising of 582 water villas and 178 sky pool villas—each with its own private dip pool. With your own swimming area, you can do anything you desire (including, ahem, underwater sexy time but read this first).

Other fascinating things to take note about the resort include a musical fountain, the largest grand ballroom in the state of Negeri Sembilan (it accommodates 2,000 people), and the Hibiscus Walk—a unique outdoor shopping and dining destination featuring rows of stalls offering authentic Malaysian cuisine. Located adjacent to Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson, the new hotel is easily accessible by the highway—it is only an hour’s drive (depending on how fast you go, of course) from both the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the city centre.

While we wait for the chance to dine with marine life in the local sunken aquarium, why not check out these other amazing underwater hotels around the world?
