New Year’s Eve 2019: Where to go and what to do in KL (to end the decade in style!)

Time really goes by so quickly, no? We are already approaching the end of 2019—the final days of the 2010s! What defined your decade? Swifties are proud that Taylor Swift won the Artist of the Decade award; but what did you “win” that you’re proudest of? Whatever it is that you have achieved, keep that in mind because it’s time to celebrate. Kuala Lumpur has amazing events on New Year’s Eve and the roundup below is bound to get you hyped for 2020. From countdown parties, fireworks, and a meal, why not end the old chapter with a bang (literally)?

1. New Year’s Eve Countdown Party, The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur

Head over to the hotel’s Crystal to ring in 2020 with 600 shots of fireworks. At eight minutes, this is known as the longest of its kind in the city. In addition to great music by DJs, cabanas and private tables are also available for reservations. Entry is RM98+ per person and comes with a drink.

2. Countdown at Marini’s On 57 with Erik Hagleton

Along with amazing fireworks view in the city, you will be treated to house music played by Parisian-born DJ Erik Hagleton. Known for his Ibiza vibes, he has performed in notable places such as Marquee in New York, Sound Nightclub in Los Angeles, Pacha Barcelona, Pacha Ibiza, and Café Mambo Ibiza. Cover charge for the event is priced at RM150—includes entry and a drink. How about the dress code? The theme set is Striking Colours. You know what to do.

3. Dine Around NYE Party, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel KL

Food and Malaysians go hand in hand. On 31 December, the hotel’s Makan Kitchen is throwing a special buffet spread to celebrate a new beginning. Expect a plethora of meat offerings served in various styles, grilled satay, noodles, Asam Pedas fish, and dessert. Dine while you count down the seconds to 2020. The dinner buffet is priced at RM250 nett per adult and RM110 per child. An addition of RM130 nett entitles you to unlimited free flow of beer, wine, and cocktails in Cellar Door and Axis Lounge.

4. Heineken New Year’s Eve Party, TREC

The beverage brand is celebrating end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020 with the “Holiday Troubles” campaign—culminating with a Countdown Party at the largest nightlife establishment in Kuala Lumpur. To welcome the new decade with a bang, the event will feature a choreographed countdown show that’s centred around their newest celebration piece, the Heineken Star Tower. The night will also see spinning by DJs Jhin and BATE. Fireworks, music, and good times. There will also be Insta-worthy installations to add to your feed.

5. Light It Up with DJ Huxley, W Kuala Lumpur
