One thing’s for sure; the airport security won’t have to worry about what’s in your luggage if you’re carrying the transparent Rimowa x Off-White carry on. The much-anticipated collaboration resulted in a distinctive transparent polycarbonate luggage accented with black handles, wheels and labelling on the locks and telescopic handle. It’s gorgeous yet cheeky yet possibly impractical. And yet, it’s meant to feel that way.

The Off-White founder, also Louis Vuitton’s menswear artistic director, Virgil Abloh considers it to be akin to a performance art piece—a response to today’s obsessive talk of privacy culture of surveillance and anonymity. “This collaboration was an experimentation where we studied travelling and one’s emotional connection to their own ‘personal belongings’,” said Abloh.

The Rimowa x Off-White piece features the Flex-Divider system in black, Rimowa’s silent Multiwheel system and TSA combination locks. It also includes customised bags and an exclusive transparent amenity kit with an additional set of wheels in Off-White orange.

At €850, it’s certainly a decent price if one is to treat it as an art piece but it’s so exclusive that it’s only available, from June 25th onwards, in select Rimowa and Off-White stores, on rimowa.com (Europe), at select wholesale partners, and in a pop-up store on wechat.
