June has flown by in the blink of an eye and it’s hard to believe that we’re officially at the halfway mark of the year! For those who want to send the month off with a bang, we’ve got just the list of plans for you happening this 29 and 30 June 2024. In this edition of the BURO Weekend Guide, we tell you more about the long-awaited Palate Palette pop-up at The Zhongshan Building, local fashion label Petit Moi’s exclusive collaboration with Murray’s Smoothies, and more.

 

1. EMBRACE COMMUNITY, TUNES, AND FOOD AT THE PALATE PALETTE POP-UP

Get a dose of nostalgia as Palate Palette returns for a one-day only pop-up at The Zhongshan Building! Prepare for a full day as its schedule is packed with community favourites making appearances in each of its tenants’ spaces. From live music sessions and art exhibits to creative workshops and dining collaborations, the agenda covers everything you need for a lively and fulfilling Saturday.

2. SIP ON NUVOLA DREAMS WITH PETIT MOI AND MURRAY’S SMOOTHIES

Where: Murray’s Smoothies, Bukit Damansara

Beloved local label Petit Moi has teamed up with Murray’s Smoothies to bring you a whimsical smoothie creation inspired by its Nuvola knit series and summer vacations. Named after the Italian word for “clouds”, the collection is all about keeping you comfortable and chic. To accessorise, you’ll need nothing more than this refreshing smoothie, made with coconut sorbet, bananas, melons, blueberries and more.

3. GET YOUR DOSE OF CREATIVITY AT THE GODOWN ARTISTS MARKET

Where: The Godown

Price: Free entry | Selected workshops are ticketed

Make your way to The Godown this weekend for your fix of craftiness and creativity. The market will feature a lineup of local artisans, who will bring their work with them for you to admire and maybe even bring home! Aside from retail therapy, you can also get involved in workshops or enjoy the live performances that are lined up. There are currently two workshops on the agenda: beginner’s leather crafting and miniature painting.

4. BE INSPIRED AT THE JAPANESE PHOTOBOOK EXHIBITION BY ZONTIGA AND LIBRO ARTE

When: 28 to 30 June 2024 | 11am to 8pm

Where: Level 3A, GMBB

Price: RM10 (One-day pass) | RM20 (Three-day pass)

Zontiga and Libro Arte have teamed up to present the Japanese Photobook Exhibition, happening this weekend at GMBB. You’ll gain access to more than 50 photobooks from independent publishers in Japan—each displaying a different photographer’s story—as well as workshops and mini events. The books offer unparalleled access to the photographers’ works, with many of them choosing such publications as their main format of presenting their shots.  Whether you’re a professional, beginner, or just someone who just appreciates the art, you’re sure to get something out of this exhibition.

5. SATISFY YOUR SWEET TOOTH WITH CHEESECAKE WEEKEND AT THE GASKET ALLEY

When: 29 & 30 June 2024 

Where: Coffeeboy Club, The Gaskey Alley 

The masterminds behind Coffeeboy Club and Halo Doughnut are coming together this weekend to make your Basque cheesecake dreams come true. Its menu comprises four variations of the light and creamy slices, so you can expect to get your fill of the dessert while there. The four cheesecake options are: classic, gula Melaka, chocolate orange, and matcha. Each serving comes with its own toppings and garnishes to complete the plate.

6. FEEL GOOD AT SUNNY SIDE UP’S HEAD TO GLOW MARKET

When: 29 & 30 June 2024 | 12pm to 7pm 

Where: Slate at The Row, Jalan Doraisamy 

Price: Free entry

Sunny Side Up Market is hosting its Head to Glow event this weekend featuring workshops, brands and makers that have wellness and sustainability in mind. At the market, you’ll get to peruse local crafts, slow fashion pieces, wellness products, skincare lines, nourishing snacks and other consciously-made goods. Those keen to welcome a furry new addition to their families can also get to know some precious cats and dogs looking for forever homes. Don’t forget to bring along your reusable bags and furkids too (yes, it’s a pet-friendly event)!

7. JOIN IN ON NEIGHBOURHOOD FUN WITH ‘GROOVE & GOOD GROUNDS’

Where: Tropics Shopping Centre, Damansara Perdana

Price: Free entry

If you’re on the lookout for a neighbourhood market to visit this weekend, get yourself to Damansara Perdana for Groove & Good Grounds. Organised by Lokal Wave, the market will feature a range of booths for coffee, food, accessories, clothing, and more. In addition to the vendors, you can also take in some tunes courtesy of live bands. If you plan on bringing the whole family, rest assured that the kids will be kept occupied with activities such as face painting.
