It goes without saying, 2020 has been a weird year. We’ve endured a pandemic
(still ongoing, by the way), political upheaval, a civil rights movement and a nationwide
quarantine
—and these are just the highlights. The general consensus is that people
aren’t too thrilled with the neo-roaring ‘20s so far. However, rough patches aside,
this year has had its great moments too.

All in all, there’s a lot to be thankful for despite the noise, and we’re here to celebrate it.
We asked 12 local personalities what they’re thankful for, and this is what they had to say.

#IAmThankfulFor the blessings in life. The
sentimental efforts that put a smile on my face to
move forward. The support I receive from my loved
ones. The thoughtful gestures that give me hope
that kindness does exist in humanity. I’m thankful
for a lot of things and one of the things is me.

#IAmThankfulFor the love and support that is
shared not only between my closest friends and
family, but also from the music lovers who continue
to support local creatives despite this rollercoaster
of a year. I feel their love and it shines through
my music!

#IAmThankfulFor surviving the wreckage COVID-19
has left behind. I believe it has changed how we
look at life and taught us to appreciate what we
have in front of us. Solidarity and kindness is what
I am truly thankful for.

I’m grateful for my past, my present, and my
future because it made me who I am today and
the greater person I’ll be soon. Happy holidays
my BURO Family!

I am thankful for all the good things that remain,
and thankful for being able to remain grateful. I
hope that we are all lucky enough to be entering
2021 surrounded by people who make us laugh,
as the simplest things like health, family, love and
laughter matter above all else.

#IAmThankfulFor a healthy body that is giving me
life and for coming this far despite all the health
complications I went through this year. I am just
thankful that I am well, happy, and alive.

#IAmThankfulFor having the time to rediscover
myself, being able to spend more time with my
family, committing myself to solitude few hours
of the day to pray and meditate, cook wholesome
meals, assist and teach my son for his online learning
class and even exercise on daily basis. As the world
slowed down, I‘m grateful that it has brought me
great clarity on things I’ve been taking for granted.

#IAmThankfulFor having the most supportive
people around me. This year is all about being
appreciative and showing gratitude. Be kind and
the sun will shine on you!

#IAmThankfulFor the blessing of good health in
this year of justifiable paranoia. I am so grateful
to be able to keep working and although I can't go
home to visit my family and friends, I can connect
with them virtually. It's been a difficult year for
many Malaysians and it has made me appreciate
the simple pleasures of life a lot more.

#IAmThankfulFor all the things that God gave
me from health to love. When I was small I never
dreamed of being an actor. I am thankful for the life
I have, and that I am able to make people happy by
doing what I love.

#IAmThankfulFor the protection and blessings on
my friends and family in this time; I’m so thankful
for the roof over my head and the food on my plate
everyday. I know how fortunate I am to have my
basic needs. I’m thankful for the moments of pause
and reflection; I’m thankful for technology and I’m
thankful for my relationships.

#IAmThankfulFor everyone who practises kindness
on a daily basis. The type of society we are and the
quality of life we live is judged based on how we
treat each other. Thank you for choosing kindness.
