Garlands of roses at the entrance, serotonin-boosting animations on the screens, and bright-eyed retail associates behind the counters. A visit to a Chopard boutique in March is an experience unlike any other. Each year, the Swiss luxury house welcomes the International Day of Happiness—established by the United Nations in 2012—with a sparkling spirit. The idea of embracing a day of joy resonates deeply with the brand whose iconic creation, Happy Diamonds, has become a symbol of joie de vivre since 1976.

Not one to break tradition, Chopard recently partnered with BURO Malaysia and co-hosted an elegant soiree to celebrate the momentous occasion. The intimate gathering, which was held at the brand’s Pavilion Kuala Lumpur boutique, drew out the country’s in-crowd. Friends of BURO Weena Marcus, Lee Yvonne, and Evelyn Marieta, as well as BURO’s cover star Wilson Lee, were all in attendance. Dressed to the nines, they roamed the two-storey store amid pink-and-purple flower arrangements and trays of candy-coloured canapés.
The evening took a sparkling turn when the esteemed guests convened around the brand experts to learn more about the house’s extensive catalogue. The exceptional pieces from the Happy Diamonds range, in particular, were the standouts for many. Taken by the sense of freedom the collection exudes, the guests spared no time inquiring about Chopard’s unique approach to diamond setting that allows free-floating diamonds to twirl between two sapphire crystals. The sharing session was as enlightening as the jewels mesmerising.

Brimming with a newfound appreciation for the art of jewellery-making, the guests then made a beeline for the counters and checked out the newest additions to the Happy Diamonds Icons line. This pendant series now comes in a square design—fashioned in ethical 18K rose or white gold—where the dancing diamonds slide freely. Another noteworthy novelty was the Happy Sport 36mm Joaillerie timepiece. Anchored by an automatic movement, which offers a 42-hour power reserve, the watch stuns with its interplay of rose gold, pink sapphires, and diamonds.
The creativity and craftsmanship that went into the creation of each creation inadvertently brought out the guests’ artistic side. Tapping into their blossoming imagination, they headed over to the charming little station at the corner of the boutique where they were handed a set of brushes, vibrant paints, and intricate floral sketches. Each of the watercolour paintings was then carefully placed inside a frame before being returned to the guests. They served as a sentimental keepsake to mark the occasion as the event came to a close.
