This limited-edition Breitling Superocean Heritage is born of a meaningful commitment

If spare change for luxury wants don’t come easy, then it is likely you can’t cop every limited edition release as much as you’d like to—but here’s one worth getting behind; if not for the make (a Breitling dive watch is surely a keeper for years to come), then for the strong message it stands behind.

Enter the Breitling Superocean Heritage Ocean Conservancy Limited Edition. Limited to just 1000 pieces, the chronograph model was created to celebrate Breitling‘s important partnership with Ocean Conservancy—a symbol of their shared commitment to bring awareness to and protect the health of the ocean. The watch brand walks the talk by taking active participation in Ocean Conservancy’s cleanup programmes, working hand-in-hand towards trash-free seas and cleaner beaches.

To back the message on environment conservation, the Superocean Heritage Ocean Conservancy Limited Edition comes with a pair of NATO straps—one in plain blue satin and one with a striped design—made of ECONYL® yarn, which is essentially repurposed nylon waste. In addition to being incredibly durable, the innovative material can be recycled indefinitely. In fact, the nylon waste used in production is partly sourced from disused fishing nets from oceans around the world—every little bit helps in reducing these sad sights, right?

Marking the exclusivity of this 44mm stainless steel chronometre is a caseback engraved with the Ocean Conservancy logo and an inscription that reads “1 OF 1000”. Keeping with the ocean-friendly theme, the watch is designed in shades of blue, with Super-LumiNova-coated hands that glow blue in the dark instead of the standard green. At the heart of this diver’s watch is an in-house Caliber 13 mechanical movement.
